B.U.R.N. OPs Needs YOUR Help!

Whether you’ve recently discovered Burning Man and want to figure out how to make that magic last all year long, or you’re a grizzled vet with experience, time and tools to share, we could use a hand here in Chicago. Several of them, really! As a do-ocracy, we’re basically limited to what we - and you- want to do. As far as time commitment- BURN OPs meets once a month, virtually and it’s usually about 90 minutes.

In no particular order, here are a few things we always need a hand with:

Communications:
Everything from moderating our Facebook Group to managing our social media presence, updating our woefully out of date website, sending occasional email blasts to our org-sanctioned email list, and more, we could always use help getting the word out.

Events:
Again, could use help across the board- from simple – coordinating a monthly happy hour, to arranging a one off bike ride, to more complex–finding a new venue for a larger decompression party- or helping organize a camping trip- maybe even an official Regional Burn- they sky is the limit if you want to help make it happen.

Fundraising:
All of our programming is self-funded by our events and donations graciously provided by our community. If you have experience or even just some good ideas on how we can raise loot, that would be awesome. For the past 10 years we’ve wanted to make this a priority and so far just.. can’t. Help!

Administrative Stuff:
We have a bank account and quickbooks and zoom and asana and slack and Gsuite and all sorts of tools at our disposal, and could always use more hands on deck keeping them humming along.

Arts & Educational Programming:
Our official mission is rooted in the Arts. Help us fulfill that mission with original programming.

The Bold Urban Renaissance Network (“BURN”) is a dynamic nonprofit organization which fosters community arts through grass-roots projects and civic collaborations. We seek to create, display, and support interactive arts and civic participation that inspires action and connects people by moving them from passive spectators to creative participants. We believe this inspires positive creative change in the participants and in the wider community.

And More!:
This is not an exhustive list. We could use help finding and coordinating volunteers. We need coders coding things, designers designing things, and so on. So please, consider this an open invitation to bring what you have to offer to the table and help nurture and grow this amazing community in Chicago.
