Secret GentleXmas

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

6:30pm

We will gather at 6:30 at the usual rendezvous point: the Wicker Park fountain—and, for those of you concerned about waiting in the cold (although forecasts call for a high of 40º, so not too much cold to be concerned about), last month we discovered that the doors on the Wicker Park fieldhouse are not merely ornamental, but open and allow people inside! Crazy. At 7:00 we ride!

This will be a slightly longer ride than our usual meanderings through Logan/Bucktown/Wicker Park, as we will be riding to Daley Plaza and the holiday wonderland contained therein: Christkindlmarket! There we will drink hot spiced mulled wine, eat hot pretzels stuffed full of unexpected ingredients, and, time permitting, maybe even get our pictures taken with Santa.

This being a longer-than-usual ride, those of you with a penchant for unusual and (unusually slow) bikes may wish to trade in in for something with a little more pep. And those of you who have always wanted to ride on Secret Gentlemass but don't have a bike of your own, nights like this are pretty much precisely what Divvy's $7, 24-hour pass is made for. Hurray for bike sharing!

For those of you who like "hanging" with the Secret Gentlemen, as the kids these days say, but lack the fortitude to bike in the cold, the Christkindlmarket is accessible via the Blue Line. Perhaps you'll meet us there.

Oh, and, regardless of your mode of transport, bring a gift for a gift exchange. Nothing too fancy (although we are Secret Gentlemen, so we can hardly help being a bit fancy), nothing too expensive—let's say somewhere in the $10 range?—maybe something bike or booze or gentleman themed? It'll be lovely.

Gentlemen: we ride.
