Friends and Family doing awesome things in Chicago.
BurnerCare is a non-profit organization established to promote and maintain the health and well-being of Chicago-area artists through financial assistance, advocacy and education.
The organization was founded in 2011 using the Ten Principles of Burning Man as a guideline: Radical Self Reliance, Immediacy, Communal Effort, Radical Self Expression, Leave No Trace, Gifting, Decommodification, Radical Inclusion, Civic Responsibility, and Participation.
We implement these principles by providing grants for immediate sustainable needs. We also offer several resources to help Chicago-area artists empower themselves, including an emergency phone network and space for community-led health and well-being workshops.
We are building a content-rich hub of health and well-being and are always looking to connect with people who are looking to get involved! We always have a need for volunteers for events, donations for silent auctions, donations to the emergency relief fund, and Wellness Afternoon workshop instructors and ideas.
CHIditarod is Chicago's 100% volunteer-driven Epic Urban shopping cart race, charity food drive, costumed beauty pageant, talent show, fundraiser and chaos generator all in one. It's probably the world's largest mobile food drive, benefitting the Greater Chicago Food Depository and the CHIditarod Foundation.
